Pregnancy Loss Education for Perinatal Professionals

Pregnancy Loss Education Training is Evelyn James & Company’s foundational program for perinatal professionals who want to confidently and compassionately support families after miscarriage, stillbirth, TFMR, neonatal loss, and infant loss. Designed for doulas, nurses, therapists, postpartum professionals, and other care providers, this training bridges the gap between medical care and the ongoing, human experience of grief.

Rooted in lived experience, professional practice, and trauma-aware, evidence-informed support, this training prepares professionals to care for families with greater presence, confidence, and integrity. You will learn how to support families emotionally, practically, and ethically, while strengthening your grief literacy, communication skills, boundaries, and understanding of continuity of care after discharge.

This training may be taken as a stand-alone program with a certificate of completion, or as the first step in our Bereavement Doula Certification pathway for those who want to deepen their work and become certified through Evelyn James & Company.

What Is Pregnancy Loss Education Training?

Pregnancy Loss Education Training prepares perinatal professionals to support bereaved families with greater confidence, compassion, and skill after miscarriage, stillbirth, TFMR, neonatal loss, and infant loss. This specialized training goes beyond standard doula and postpartum education by focusing on grief-informed care, trauma awareness, communication, memory-making, ethical support, and long-term care for families navigating the death of a baby.

Who This Training Is For

This training is designed for professionals who support families during pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and beyond, including:

  • Doulas (birth, postpartum, bereavement)

  • Birth workers and labor support professionals

  • Nannies and Newborn Care Specialists

  • Postpartum professionals and newborn care specialists

  • Nurses and healthcare professionals

  • Therapists, counselors, and mental health providers working in the perinatal space

No matter your role, if families look to you for guidance, support, or presence after pregnancy loss, this training was created for you.

It’s training that transforms you.

This training changes the way you support people, not just in your work, but in life.

Yes, you’ll leave with tools, language, and a deeper understanding of pregnancy and infant loss. But more than that, you’ll start to understand grief differently. You’ll understand people differently. You’ll become more thoughtful, more steady, more aware of what support actually looks like when someone’s world has fallen apart.

This isn’t just about learning how to support bereaved families after baby loss, though that is absolutely at the heart of it. It’s also about learning skills that carry across the lifespan. Grief touches everything. Death, diagnosis, trauma, identity shifts, divorce, dreams falling apart, major life changes, people are carrying grief everywhere. This training helps you become someone who can meet that pain with more compassion, confidence, and care.

It changes how you listen.
How you respond.
How you hold space.
How you show up when there is nothing to fix.

That kind of learning doesn’t stay in a workbook or inside a training container. It becomes part of who you are. It shapes the way you care for clients, families, friends, strangers, and even yourself.

That’s why this training matters so much.

Because this is bigger than one role or one certification. It is a skillset, a perspective, and a way of being that will impact every person you support for the rest of your life.

Inside our Pregnancy Loss Education Training, you will learn how to:

  • Compassionately support families after miscarriage, stillbirth, TFMR, neonatal loss, and infant loss

  • Use trauma-aware, grief-informed language that helps families feel seen, safe, and supported

  • Understand common grief responses, trauma reactions, and nervous system dysregulation after loss

  • Provide practical and emotional support in medical, birth, postpartum, and home settings

  • Care for the full family system, including partners, dads, siblings, and extended family members

  • Practice within your scope while maintaining strong boundaries and ethical support

  • Extend care beyond the moment of loss through thoughtful follow-up and continuity of support

  • Identify when a family needs additional clinical, medical, or mental health support and refer with care
